UPDATES: Firstly, to all of you amazing folks who wanted to schedule a session and make a donation to support the beautiful family in transition, THANK YOU! Based on many fundraising efforts, we were able to raise almost $3,000 cash (some in donations, some in session scheduling, some I matched donation/donation). This beautiful mother transitioned late last night and her sister and daughter were by her side. She was able to say what she needed to say to her sister and prepare all legalities for her daughter to now officially be adopted and raised in the way that she wanted. We have had lawyers step up to offer legal services (pro bono), we were able to get flight points donated (for her sisters travel here). we have a child-counselor donating 20 hours for grief counseling/support and we have legions of Angels just stepping up to provide, offer and love. I am beyond grateful to have been a part of this and to get to support and love her in her passing. This was a woman I will never forget. Her beautiful heart simply permeated every cell of mine and I feel so blessed to have gotten to say my goodbyes to her on Friday. She never had pity for herself or for her daughter. When she knew she had exhausted all physical/medical options, she simply focused on loving. The tears are here, those human little droplets. And they are allowed. But they are not tears of sadness. They really are tears of joy, knowing/experiencing that we CAN love one another so deeply, without expectation. I will continue to do what I can for this family, in whatever capacity may arise. But I really wanted the many of you that reached out during this time to know how very touched I am that you leaned in and you loved without question. When the student is ready, the teacher arrives. And sometimes that teacher is here simply to touch our heart so deeply if only for a brief moment, so that we remember that we are always love loving. And then, as quickly as they came, they are gone.
