UPPER ROOM DEVOTION for today, Sept. 10, 2013 Read Psalm 19:1-6 View the Sept-Oct, 2013 Issue In all thy ways acknowledge [the Lord], and he shall direct thy paths. - Proverbs 3:6 (KJV) Here in a rural part of Texas, especially during the summer months when the skies are clear, I can watch the universe put on a show all night long. Over the days and months, I notice that every star and planet appears to be slowly but steadily moving in the sky — with one exception. No matter what time of night or what time of year, the North Star is always in the same position, providing a guiding light for those who have lost their way in the darkness. Even in this age of GPS tracking, I still find comfort in knowing that the North Star is always there to show me the way home. Like the night sky, life constantly changes; and if we are not careful, we can easily get lost in the darkness. If we don’t have something or someone on whom we can depend, we may never get where we want to go in life. Instead, we wander from one point to the next, always moving but never going anywhere. No matter how dark our life becomes, God’s word is the guiding light that keeps us on the right path.
