UPU AND THE ADOPTION OF DAVID EDEVBIE OUR CONCERN I have commended the current leadership of the UPU when it insisted the apex Urhobo body will not vote for any party that fails to send an Urhobo candidate to the field. The UPU is not a political party that decides who becomes a governor in a state. I have kept my quiet in the sure hope the apex body will make public the basis of its choice of David EDEVBIE but that was never done. I think it would have been proper for the UPU to encourage its Urhobo delegates to vote for only their Urhobo brothers in the primaries not by sowing this seed of discord by adopting an individual amidst several candidates. This body (UPU) is like a mother with all Urhobo aspirant as children and this act therefore segregates moreso, as no basis was disclosed for the choice of David EDEVBIE. How will the others feel when no transparent modalities was used as a gauge to arrive at the decision. Nobody should be consoled with the fact Deputy governor Amos Utuama stepped down for him as the issue is was he ever in the race? The UPU should remember Nigeria is not a one party state. If other Urhobo sons are featured by their respective parties what becomes of the decision? The decision is hasty and does not meet the justice of the agitation for an Urhobo governorship as canvassed by the Urhobo proponents. This is not justice it should be reviewed otherwise it will breed bad blood and disunity.
