URGENT! Dot and her companion, Marge lost everything when their - TopicsExpress

URGENT! Dot and her companion, Marge lost everything when their owner died. These spry seniors need foster or adoption ASAP. It is no longer humane to allow them to stay in the shelter due to their age. Both are continuing to lose weight and sleeping on cold cement, even with blankets provided, is taking its toll. We were hoping that, as in the past, a family would step forward for a senior pup, realizing all they have to offer. Dot and Marge do NOT have to go to the same home. They have been housed separately over the past few weeks preparing them for the possibility of going home without each other. They get along with other dogs. Marge is housed with a puppy. LAST CALL. Please share!!! Dot ID# DL-11-12-03 Female Lab mix Birthday 11/12/2007 Dot was picked up by animal control when she was found loyally guarding her deceased owner’s body in her home. These are the tragic stories where dogs are separated from their human companion through no fault of their own, or of their owner. We suspect that Dots owner may have been ill for some time and unable to care for her environment, as Dot really needed a bath and probably had not been outside in a while. Dot is approximately 7 yrs old. Seniors are often overlooked in the shelter, but because they have known a family and home life for so long, they are the most terrified and confused. Already grieving the loss of her owner, Dot has found herself in a strange and noisy place. Dot is heartworm negative. Dot aced her tolerance test and was easily handled by a 10yr old visitor. And even though Dot was quite frightened upon her arrival at the shelter, she has come around and was happy to demonstrate her lapdog abilities when being photographed recently. It is our own highest hope that after such an unsettling and heartbreaking experience, Dot will leave the shelter with a human companion that will not see a senior dog as a burden, but instead, packaged with a lifetimes worth of joy and devotion to share, and that her next guardian will enjoy the soulful reward of welcoming her into a home where she can enjoy her golden years surrounded in love. If you have the space in your home and your heart to help heal hers, Dot is available for adoption or rescue at: Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter - Westbank 1869 Ames Blvd., Marrero, La 70072 504-349-5111
