URGENT! TIME SENSITIVE! PLEASE READ! PRAIRIE DOG PLACEMENT SITUATION - YOUR ATTENTION NEEDED! LOCATION: LUBBOCK, TEXAS. Please help spread the word and feel free to share this announcement in various email communities and social networking channels and contact Gena Seaberg by PRIVATE MESSAGE ONLY or BY PHONE AT 425.870.1729 for more details. THANK YOU! Please meet Lil Dude and Tat-Tat. They are an unaltered, mixed gender, yearling prairie dog pair looking for a quality forever home. Both have no known health issues and were acquired at a local pet store and have been properly maintained since they were pups. Their current caretaker had an unanticipated and unavoidable change in living situation that requires them to move to where no pets are permitted no later than October 17, hence the urgency of this placement. This is the last thing their owner has wanted to do and the decision is not made lightly. In addition to them not being allowed at the location where they need to move, they feel that they need more attention than they currently can provide due to their changed life situation. This placement will be managed carefully to ensure that their future caretaker(s) are committed, loving, and knowledgeable about what it takes to be their forever home. They had been quite social and affectionate and will make wonderful additions to anyone’s home but sadly they haven’t been worked with nearly as much lately. They must be rehomed as a pair as they are very bonded to each other and every effort should be made to get them neutered and spayed as soon as possible to keep rut related issues minimal. Thankfully, there is an incredibly skilled vet nearby that has performed countless sterilization procedures and I can connect you once we move forward with a placement. There is NO FEE FOR THEIR PLACEMENT, only that we find them the best home possible. Their cage and wheel will NOT be included because the caretaker must sell those items in order to help with their current situation. Food and other items will accompany them however. While they are both well socialized, there may be a bit of normal behavioral regression as they adjust and establish a bond with a new caretaker and I can assist with the bonding and gradual integration process once a strong caretaker bond is formed. Understand that this small behavior regression is normal because they need to establish trust again and that doesn’t occur overnight, and they all go through this process. They will NOT be placed in a mixed gender prairie dog home unless under special circumstance where the experience level of the owner warrants and/or where they could be maintained separately if there are other females to join them in two groups (e.g. a male group/female group). Especially if the pair is not neutered or spayed soon. They are both mostly eating an ideal diet so no dietary transitions should be necessary if the new caretaker simply follows basic feeding guidelines. The only slight adjustment is that the male is being a bit particular about mealworms, but should be fine if fed a healthy protein alternative in the ration amount needed for his weight. Further details can be discussed with interested parties directly. Please spread the word and accept my sincere gratitude to all that we can work together to find Lil Dude and Tat-Tat new adventures where they will be loved, healthy, happy, and live long lives!!!!
