URUGUAY lost today without the services of their star player. Considering how much the team depended on him, he should not have risked even a yellow/red card. Keep in mind, though, that the referee did not give Suarez a red card, and the FIFA disciplinary process subsequently judged him harshly on basis of playback video footage. The President of Uruguay took exception to that. The injury seemed minimal and Suarez did not bite an opponents ear off, and spit it out, as Mike Tyson did in the boxing ring. Others are getting elbowed in the eye and groin, but it seems OK. No review of playback video footage necessary. Elbows, fingers, fists, and head butts are perfectly OK. Forlan, Cavani, & Pereira were not able to fill the void for Uruguay. Forlan won the golden boot in the World Cup in 2010. He is not in the same form this time. The relatively newer teams like Chile, Costa Rica, and Colombia are playing great soccer. Ivory Coast and Ghana, too. No need to become morose. Celebrate with a song like, La Ballade.
