US$ 300 M Expected In Debt Relief A total of US$300 million dollars is to be injected into Grenada’s debt relief programme. The pronouncement was made by Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell at a Constituency Forum of St John at the Grand Roy Government School. The disclosure created quite a stir among the many who were on hand for the occasion. Government is considering lowering the Income Tax threshold below the EC$60,000 mark and expanding the net to catch the many, who have been escaping. These are among some of the recommendations coming from the International Monetary Fund. However Dr. Mitchell has given assurances that the poor and marginalized will not be impacted. He made it categorically clear that the program being designed is done by Grenada and not the IMF. However, he said that the IMF support is needed with its strong international clout.
