US Ag Policy discriminates against Healthy food. 725,000 Americans die every year from junk food related conditions. Junk food costs $94billion/yr in extra health care. Good for doctors; bad for people. Eating healthy food would prevent 127,000 premature deaths each year. Yet, US Ag policy subsidizes farmers who grow ingredients of junk food and makes healthy food more expensive. There are barely 20 days left before the deadline to complete and pass the Farm Bill. Contact your members of Congress and tell them to stop subsidizing corn and soy beans and instead subsidize organic fruit and vegetable farms and encourage farm to school, farm to senior center, farm to food bank food suppliers.
