US Departments of Commerce and Energy Announce Smart Cities Trade Mission to China From April 12 to 17, 2015, the US Department of Commerce and US Department of Energy will lead a Business Development Mission to China, focusing on industries that support Smart Cities and Smart Growth, including: • Green buildings • Building energy retrofitting • Building management • Green data centers • Carbon capture utilization and storage • Energy efficiency technologies • Clean air and water technologies • Waste treatment technologies • Smart grid • Green transportation The trade mission is intended to enhance clean energy cooperation following the US and China’s joint announcement in November to curb carbon emissions, while also helping US companies establish or expand business in China. “As the country’s Chief Commercial Advocate, a key part of my job is helping US companies connect with business opportunities around the world, and China’s energy sector holds huge potential for US firms,” said Secretary Pritzker in the announcement of the trade mission. “China will continue to have tremendous energy needs as the country urbanizes and grows its middle class, and American companies have the expertise necessary to serve as partners in building clean and efficient infrastructure.” Senior executives from 20 to 25 US companies will participate in the Business Development Mission.
