US News ranked Michigan High Schools recently. They looked at student teacher ratio, math and reading proficiency and college readiness primarily in making the ratings. You can check it out yourself at usnews/education/best-high-schools/michigan/rankings?int=3336cc Cadillac, Tawas, Ithaca, Beal City, Chippewa Hils, Marion, Houghton Lake, Tawas and Central Montcalm were some of the schools in the northern Michigan area that received national recognition. No other local school made it in the top 200. Of the local schools they were listed in this order: Beaverton, Clare, Coleman, Farwell, Gladwin and Harrison but it was unclear if that was a ranking because they were so far down the list. Clare was listed at 320 though it was unclear if that was a ranking or not and indicated that Clare had smaller teacher student ratio than the Michigan average, was near the Michigan average in math and reading but below the Michigan average in college readiness.
