US President thanks President of the Republic for Cyprus’ stabilizing role in the region The President of the United States, Mr Barack Obama, thanked the President of the Republic, Mr Nicos Anastasiades, and Cyprus for its contribution and role towards peace and stability in the region of the Middle East and the Eastern Mediterranean. He also expressed his satisfaction for the efforts of President Anastasiades to resume a well-prepared and substantive dialogue aiming at a comprehensive and sustainable solution to the Cyprus problem. President Anastasiades’ conversation with President Obama took place during a dinner hosted by the US President for the heads of state and government yesterday evening, on the occasion of the 68th Session of the United Nations General Assembly. Moreover, on the sidelines of the dinner, President Anastasiades held a 20-minute meeting with the US Secretary of State, Mr John Kerry, during which the latter expressed his intention and wish to hold a visit to Cyprus. The US Secretary of State reiterated his thanks to President Anastasiades for Cyprus’ stabilizing role in the volatile region of the Eastern Mediterranean.-24.09.2013
