US Secretary of State John Kerry and his Pakistani counterpart, Sartaj Aziz, say the two countries will resume high-level negotiations over security issues. Kerry said he invited Pakistan’s newly elected Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif to come to Washington to meet with President Barack Obama. The two diplomats spoke Thursday after Kerry met with Sharif in Islamabad. Aziz said Pakistan wanted the US to end drone strikes aimed at militants on its territory. The Secretary of State also said he was confident there will be a “timely” agreement with Afghanistan on future troop levels in the country. - death - rt news - august 1st 2013
