US foreign policy in the middle east is a mess. We dont know who our friends are, we dont know who our enemies are. We are spending vast sums of money, killing vast numbers of innocent ppl and getting nothing in return except earning lots of enemies for life. Absent any sort of plan, we are just doing what doing what the military contractors tell us to do, which is of course to keep shoveling money at them. This is insanity. Of course the US should not back Assad, or ISIS, or Maliki, or Israel, or Iran or anybody. We need to withdraw from the middle east -- COMPLETELY-- and focus our priorities domestically.
