US hurdle depth, by Alfons Juck, EME News MOUNTAIN VIEW (USA): Trackandfieldnews writes about new wave of US talented hurdlers. The concept of recognizing Junior (teenager all year) Records indoors is only a couple of years old, at both the IAAF and USATF level. The talents already set 3 AJRs this winter in the 60 m hurdles. On the men‘s side, Miami‘s Artie Burns ran 7.68 in Albuquerque last weekend, breaking the 7.70 standard set by Washington‘s Robert Gaines in ’76 and matched by Jason Richardson of South Carolina in ’05. The World Junior record is 7.55 by China‘s Xiang Liu. On the women‘s side, Oregon‘s Sasha Wallace has run 8.10 twice: in Lexington, Kentucky on January 25 and like Burns last weekend in Albuquerque. The old best of 8.13 was set by Tennessee‘s Nia Ali in ’07. The World Junior Record is 8.06, shared by Ulrike Denk of West Germany and Monique Éwanje-Épée of France.
