USDA Small Business Innovation Research Program Grant (SBIR) Phase I, Deadline September 26: The purpose of the U.S. Department of Agriculture SBIR program is to provide an opportunity for US-owned, for-profit small business firms to submit innovative, applied, research and development projects that address important problems facing American agriculture and have the potential to lead to significant public benefit if the research is successful. Phase I is to determine the scientific or technical feasibility of ideas submitted by applicants on research topic areas: global food security and hunger; climate change; sustainable bioenergy; childhood obesity; and food safety. The USDA recognizes agriculturally-related manufacturing technology and energy efficiency and alternative and renewable energy as two cross-cutting priorities with relevance to all topic areas. nifa.usda.gov/fo/sbir.cfm
