Ubong David IMMIGRATION RECRUITMENT: A NATIONAL EMBARRASSMENT It is very sympathetic and a national embarrassment to see youth in their millions trouping into different centers across the country just for Immigration Recruitment. This is an indication that all is not well with our country and the youth must hold their representatives responsible. Every states in the federation has 10 members of the House of Representatives, 3 Senators, 1 Governor and 1 Deputy Governor, Commissioners, Special Advisers, House of Assembly members, Council Chairmen, Councillors, Permanent Secretaries, other political appointees, etc. Ask them questions on what they are doing to checkmate unemployment in their domain. Again, the authority of Immigration Services must as a matter of urgency be probe by the National Assembly and prosecuted for printing excess Application Form for the recruitment. There is no justification whatsoever for an establishment of government to print millions of recruitment form and sold it out to the youth population who are desperate for white collar jobs when originally, you have only 3000 in mind to fill the quota. This is fraudulent and an act of corruption and should not be treated with kid gloves. Those responsible must be probe and prosecuted accordingly. Meanwhile, I learnt that seven (7) people have lost their lives in a stampede at Abuja Stadium. This is very unfortunate and the federal government must give bear the cost of their burial and cater for their families. Finally, government at all levels be it federal, state and local must look critically at the issue of unemployment in this country and channel all effort to address it accordingly. Establishment of Youth Craft Center, a model as found in Katsina State will go a long way to curb unemployment. Also, our young people must think beyond white collar jobs and be creative to avoid a repeat of this ugly situation. It is very disappointing. The earlier we address it the better.
