Udom closes in on the governorship of Akwa Ibom State (2). Since the ad-hoc delegate selection in Akwa Ibom state there have been threats of war, rumors of mass defection, petitions, lawsuits, and an outright refusal by USD “elders” to acknowledge any relationship with their incumbent senator (Ita Enang) for daring to err on the side of truth, justice, and fairness. Sponsors and perpetrators of these anti party tricks in USD feel sturdily that the governorship is their inheritance and will stop at nothing to reclaim it. They have already prayed the court for and gotten two temporary reliefs, but before they embark on this journey to infamy we suggest they talk to Frank Okon Daniel. There are lessons they could learn from him. As the legal firework intensifies our man (Udom Emmanuel, the next executive governor of Akwa Ibom State in 2015 by many estimations) continues to garner support and endorsements from friends and political foes across the state that, previously, were ambivalent about his gubernatorial ambition. USD elders and stakeholders are, indeed, warming up to Udom Emmanuel. Subsequent to BAAs endorsement of Udom Emmanuel a few weeks earlier, the incumbent senator representing USD (Ita Enang) also endorsed and threw the weight of his office behind Udom’s campaign, and made an auxiliary pledge to work with Udom to make his gubernatorial dream a reality. He further directed his constituency (USD) to support Udom Emmanuel for governor – as he is what the state needs in her economic and industrialization gait. Not to be left out of the scheme of things former senator Effiong Bob (USD) in a well attended press conference urged the elders and stakeholders of USD extraction to support power shift to ESD in the interest of peace. In an unrelated development Udom Emmanuel has denied in strongest terms a story credited to him and planted in traditional and social media by his traducers that seek to frogspawn and uphold bad feelings between him and the first family. The story alleges that Udom Emmanuel referred to the first lady (Patience Jonathan) as “an enemy of Akwa Ibom State”, but the author failed to substantiate when and where such careless and imprudent remark was made. This is an absolute fabrication and a deliberate undertaking by tomfoolery to smudge Udom’s reputation and slow his momentum. We challenge the mischief makers to publish a video (not an audio which could be doctored) that shows Udom Emmanuel making this dense and unintelligent remark. Udom Emmanuel welcomes everyone to his campaign. Together we will make history at the primaries, and go on to win the general election next year in 2015. The Voice of Diaspora
