Uduaghan lauds outgoing DELSU VC Delta State governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, has lauded the success and achievements of the outgoing Vice Chancellor of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, Professor Eric Arubayi.Mrs Roli Uduaghan, who stood in for her husband, gave the commendation at a valedictory thanksgiving service held on Sundayin honour of Professor Arubayi and his wife, Professor Diana, at Our Saviour’s Chapel, DELSU in Abraka.The occasion was also organised to mark the 60th birthday celebration of Professor Arubayi’s wife, Professor Diana, a lecturerat the university.Speaking on the achievements of Professor Arubayi, Mrs Uduaghan said, “only God helped him to be successful. He has served well. He has done very well. We pray that the person coming after him will dobetter.”Most Reverend SGA Onibere, in his sermon, lauded the achievements of Professor Arubayi and flayed civil servants, who portray satanic tendencies by working against the promotion of their subordinates, saying the celebrant never displayed such attitude in his five years asvice chancellor.Professor Arubayi, in response, described the day as that of fulfillment.“Today marks my last day in office as the vice chancellor. Today coincides with my wife’s 60th birthday, so we have to be thankful to God for allowing us to see today,” he said.He conjectured that he cannot determine his successor, but the Visitor of the university will do so, adding, however, that he wouldwant a person with the fear of God and to do better than what he has done.Wife of the vice chancellor, Professor Diana, whilespeaking with Nigerian Tribune, appreciated God for sparing her life and that of her husband.She ascribed the secret of her longevity to fear of God and the love she enjoyed from her husband.Dignitaries at the occasion includedMinister of Niger Delta, Dr Steve Oru, Secretary to the State Government, Mr Ovuzuiri Macaulay, DELSU ASUU chairman, Professor Abel Diakparomre and his secretary, Dr Emmanuel Ufuophu-Biri, Rt Rev. JFE Edewor and ther clerics as well as royal fathers from Abraka kingdom.Highlight of the event was a reception held where dignitaries were entertained and the celebrants honored.
