Ugandan opposition is laughable ------------------------------------------------------- FDC came and killed off DP that appeared a good future alternative to the ruling NRM under the leadership of Paul Kawanga Semwogere. They had steady fast youthful vibrant leaders at the time like Hon. Mao, Hon. Mukasa Fred Mbidde Esq, Erias Lukwago and many others that offered hope to the young generation. When FDC/Besigye/Byanyima gained momentum they endangered DP by either taking some of the vibrant DP members and blackmailing those that refused to join their ranks. When this failed to deliver victory, FDC suffered the same fate at the hands of a loose organisation known as Suubi. Kizza Besigye instead chose to abandon the main stream party structures and popularise the Suubi marriage. This marriage did not only weaken FDC but further disintegrated the little that was remaining of the crumbling DP. The theme of the SUUBI-FDC alliance was you were either with them or an NRM mole. Then came the Sejusa sagga. All opposition focused on popularisation of Sejusa at the expense of their party activities. Where is Sejusa now? Now Comes The Amama Mbabazi phenomenon. They have all focused on this NRM party internal matter probably with a hope that a disgruntled JPAM will deliver them to the promised land. FDC recently had a mega or was it meeting in Luweero and few if any are discussing its outcomes. They are all focusing on Mbabazi. My guess is the Mbabazi sagga is now burying the dead DP and FDC. Why do Ugandan politicians forget their history so quickly? Why are we swallowed up into this short term ism? The change is now or never and most of the times its never. Most of the progressive Ugandan politicians have disappeared into oblivion because some few individuals decided to personalise the political space in government and the opposition alike. Does Uganda have any genuine politicians intent on building the country or a bunch of self seeking opportunistic individuals?. We need to reflect more deliberately. For God and my Country.
