“Uh-huh.” muttered KCB Gary. Gary stood outside his store, - TopicsExpress

“Uh-huh.” muttered KCB Gary. Gary stood outside his store, looking at the sight before him. A large brown delivery truck, wearing a pair of Groucho Marx glasses with a plastic nose and mustache beneath was parked on the corner. Beside it was the “mysterious” appearing/disappearing firehydrant that had been around for the past couple of weeks. There was the pervasive smell of coffee. Walking up to more formally address the badly disguised duo, Gary said “Look. Guys. It’s you. I know it. We all know it. I’ve known for weeks, about you…” with a pointed finger at the firehydrant. “…and you are just too damn hard to disguise.” He stated to the truck with the same pointed finger. “Let it go, it’s Halloween. Have fun, don’t let this go too far. Okay?” Nobody moved or said anything. “Okay?” Nothing. “Guys…” People were walking by, wondering who Gary was talking to. “Fine. Have fun.” Gary stated with a dismissing wave of his hand as he turned to go back into the store. Standing in the doorway to the store was the Koala, in his full Sith robes, wearing a look of mild interest. Stopping in his tracks, KCB Gary raised an eyebrow at the sight. The koala looked back. As Gary stood there, calculating what was actually happening, a familiar sound greeted his ears. A large engine, singing it’s familiar song. Turning his gaze up the street, Gary saw the truck with the New Comics approaching. Gary turned to look at the firehydrant and “disguised” truck. Both sat there where he had talked to them before. Then he turned his eyes to see the truck with the New Comics pulling in to drop off the days shipment, and the koala looking its way also. “Huh.” Filthy Assistant Charlie came trooping out of the store, Grubby Helper John in tow, walking to the truck to help with the unloading. The koala simply stood there. The firehydrant and Groucho truck had no comment. “Damn, already time for aspirin.” muttered KCB Gary as he pushed through the door into the store. Seconds after Gary passed into his own store, the koala, John, Charlie and the truck all craned their heads to make certain Gary was out of sight. With a quiet nod amongst them, the moved to their true purpose. Charlie helped the koala into his hydrant costume which had been sitting on the sidewalk empty, and John pushed the garbage dumpster out of the inflated shell of the Groucho Truck. The dumpster removed and the koala now dressed, Charlie placed the oversized glasses/nose/mustache onto the real truck while John deflated the fake. Then both John and Charlie unloaded the boxes from the Truck, and the truck moved into the space once occupied by the fake truck. Now in place and the costumes on, they waited for Gary to return. This was gonna be good.
