Uhh, I disagree...we all have our ways and opinions, but lets hear it, how were you raised? I was spanked often, and yes there were occasions that I was spanked for the same reason because I was still learning, but began to know better, same with any other punishment you use to teach your child, its a repetitive process sometimes. I may have laughed when I got spanked as I got older but I knew what I was doing wrong and thats when the punishment changed from being spanked to being grounded and having things taken away because it bothered me more to not play Xbox than it did when I was five and had something taken away only to find something else to play with because I was five and had the attention span of squirrel. I never felt distrust in my parents and I understood that spanking wasnt my parents just hitting me, and it wasnt like they were beating me, they were punishing me for what I did wrong. I knew it was wrong to hit people and never felt confused as to why my parents got to spank me and it was okay. I grew up to be an independent, logical being who has a trusting relationship with her parents and is grateful for the things I have, and Im thankful for the way my parents raised me because I feel I have this mindset from the way I was raised. Now, yes its POSSIBLE that this same personality and mentally could have come without being spanked, but thats not the point, the point is some punishment styles work and some dont, every child is different and when your child is still doing the same wrong things after having tried one punishment style, dont you think you should try something else? And yes, spanking could still stay off your list, Im not saying you have to try it but you obviously need to stop doing what your doing and try something else if a month of one punishment is showing no signs of improved behavior. How a parent punishes their child is up to the parent.
