Uhuru Cautions Museveni on ‘Bad Apples’ in Kampala Michael Nteza Councilor Salim Uhuru speaking to press today Kisenyi II Parish Councillor Mr Salim Uhuru has raised to President Yoweri Museveni’s attention of the existence of bad leadership especially in Kampala who downplay the role of local leaders, something he says has worked a negative spiral in the connection between government and its people. Addressing press today at the Kampala Central Division headquarters, Mr. Uhuru also advised that President Yoweri Museveni ceases singing praises to individuals that have done nothing but oppress Ugandans. He noted, “Kampala has been messed up by some inexperienced leaders. Recently as president was opening up a health facility in Kisenyi I was shocked to notice that His Excellency was in my area but no one had officially written or informed me about his visit yet it was organised by some of the leaders of Kampala” Uhuru added that this didn’t hold him from joining in the function, being the NRM Chairman for Kampala; but to his utter surprise he was thrown out by the organizers before he could even greet the president, warning him that politicians were not allowed on this function. “As councillors in the central division we have never received an invitation from any senior government official in the city administration consulting us on how to improve our city despite of the fact that we are people’s representatives” added Uhuru Uhuru says that this shocked him a lot and when he was invited to break the fasting at State House Entebbe he presented a well detailed report to the president informing him of various unfair practices taking place in Kampala especially in the administration of the city. Salim thus called upon all top leaders in the city to respect all local leaders of Kampala as one of the means to promote good governance as well as proper service delivery since all leaders were elected by the people.
