Ukrainian Independence Day + Lviv Arena + ukrainian rock band Okean Elzy + 40,000(+) Ukrainians = Awesome Yesterday Ukraine celebrated its Independence Day, when in 1991 the soviet republic said goodbye to the USSR and communism - ammicably parting ways with what would become the Russian Federation. This year independence day has special meaning for Ukrainians, because the very independence that they had finally gained is threatened in a way no one could ever have expected. I was lucky to celebrate with my wife Iryna, and brother-in-law Ihor, in Lviv, at Okean Elzys nationally televised independence day concert. People truly respect them, and love their music. Ukraine has changed a lot since it gained independence, and even more since the events of 2013-2014. Ive never seen Ukrainians so united in face of adversity, so patriotic, and so committed to building a better future. And things here are going to change a lot more. What I saw yesterday convinced me of that. There is a generation out there of young Ukrainians with boundless energy, patriotism, and an undeniable desire for freedom and opportunity. Things are only getting started, and you aint seen nothin yet. Ukraine is Europes largest country, and one of its most populous - Lets give Ukraine a chance. The Ukrainian TV channel 1+1 has videos from the whole concert, Ill post one here and a few more in the comments.
