#UkweliKE #MaskaniConversations Via Georges Buma on #SabaSaba #KEMediaBlackout THE CRITICAL SIDE OF SABASABA WE HAVE CHOSE TO IGNORE!! Now that the Bilated Sabasaba intrigues and cacophony is fizzling out ,folks allow me comment on it before we hurriedly forget.Am not going to indulge in political gimmick however it is important to realize sabasaba was about scrutinizing the Democratic progress realized in Kenya. Sadly am appalled by one particular tendency of the Fourth estate. The conduct of the media has repeatedly been uncouth, slanderous, obnoxiously partisan and thuggish!!..a colossal of unprofessionalism and ineptitude( my apologies) ..Before and aftermath of March 2013 election, the media acted and played into the tunes of the state, which is supposed to check for undemocratic tendencies. It all started when the media, ludicrously purported to preach peace while falling into the wider scheme by the state to propagate propaganda.Am not against the media preaching peace however I was taken awash by incessant and well calculated plot to create a non existence fear on violence eruption during the 2013 election and now sabasaba. The constitution bestowed the fourth estate (media) with noble responsibility to keep the state on check...but went ahead and dinned with the state (media breakfast at statehouse).. The media has allowed itself to be infiltrated by state mandarins and Wheeler- dealers who conscientiously conspire to retain the status quo. A few journalist who have opposed to the this infiltration by the state have been labeled the enemy of the establishment..the caliber of Mohammed Ali. Gallant editors who have refused to toe the line have been demoted, sacked or even others opted to quit.Today morning, Editors guild Chairman Macharia Gaitho resigned to protest how the the Jubilee Government has arm twisted and deeply stifled major political events to shape the opinion of Kenyans most recently the General election and the sabasaba. I saw it coming from Gaitho. Am an ardent reader of his opinion pieces in the daily nation. In his most recent articles he has been insinuating the interference and cajoling by the state. He continues to emphasize on the importance of media freedom and the role of opposition and the media to keep the government in check.Sadly today he resigns after the government during this sabasaba heavily gagged the media from airing the event. I firmly believe in our constitution that is so progressive. The tenets of this constitution were the Bill of rights, sovereignty of people of Kenya and Devolution. This basic tenets are under threat.A society can only thrive under truth, justice and peace. But now Kenyans have been made to believe that we only need Peace.(in fact this peace is so synthetic).Kenya need economic peace(growth), political peace (justice) and inner peace(truth) to prosper.. METHINK WE STILL NEED NATIONAL DIALOGUE....
