Ullerskellarskelffff (close enough) 2 - 8 Hensall Hawks Official match report Really proud of all the boys again today we had the game won by the end of the first quarter with goals coming from zach, Elliot and Albert. The attacking play was just too much for the opposition with hensall playing great football with some fantastic passing moves especially from the three goal scorers. Elliot kept up his fine scoring form with another 2 goals in the first quarter and completed his hat trick later on, winning a penalty and converting even though the ball was sunk well into the ground in a very poor area of grass. With such a great start it gave me the luxury of giving all the squad a lot of game time while keeping the team competitive with everyone who came on playing extremely well and showing great improvement every week. The game did start to get quite rough with shoulder barges, shirt pulling and big tackles flying in all over the place. Zach, callum and Carter all putting in numerous last ditch tackles to really save the team. Just as the opposition got a goal and started to look a bit like getting back into the game hensall took it back up a gear and got some more goals Ethan and 2 more for Albert completing his hat trick. Ethan came out of net and decided how to show the strikers in the team how to finish with a great poachers effort. Also will maith got an excellent assist from a corner setting Albert up for a first time volley into the top corner which Albert later described as being deliscious. Charlie threatened throughout the game as usual with his brilliant dribbling, Leo battled hard up front, Carter played the best football hes played yet, Reece almost had his head taken off by an Albert free kick but is looking more and more confident every week and starting to settle really well, will gammage continued last weeks heroics with more positive forward runs but Id like to leave a special mention for hensalls unsung hero, he never moans or questions anything and tackles absolutely anything that comes his way, quite literally. Callum is the teams rock and the amount of attacks that he dealt with today without putting a foot wrong all game is quite astonishing. Hes built up a consistancy now and is vastly becoming one of the teams most important players and the team owes a great thanks to him. Id also like to say well done to will maith for getting me an assist today as I know passing is far from his favourite football manoeuvre but he always gives it 110% and most importantly never gives up and hes getting better every week. Next week we have a tough game against a team from the knottingley area so Im expecting it to be even more physical than todays game and much rougher. If we play like we have the last 2 games well do just fine. Also the team we have now, we developed some fantastic players over the summer and have an extremely talented squad and theres top competition in all positions just like all great teams and theres going to be times I might ask players maybe to play in positions that they not be happy about or would prefer to play elsewhere and Im happy to listen and try to play people where they want but were a team and we want to win and if thats means mixing it up a bit to benefit the team Ill take that route. We have a larger squad than we probably need and I know some weeks the kids might not get to play as much as some others which im sorry about but weve been lucky so far that last 2 weeks weve done the hard work early on and been able to get everyone a lot of game. I know as a team these guys can go far and every game we play I know were capable of winning. Just thought Id include our league top goal scorer and assist maker top 3 so far aswell.
