Umana Okon Umana consults PDP, Promises War Against Poverty & Unemployment ‘There will be a level-playing field for all aspirants, and the party will support Umana if he wins the nomination’, says State Chairman It was a blend of splendour, dances and singing, pomp and pageantry when Mr Umana Okon Umana, the leading PDP governorship aspirant in Akwa Ibom State led a large crowd of party elders, leaders, stakeholders and members to formally inform the State Executive Committee of the PDP of his gubernatorial aspiration. All members of the party EXCO, led by the Chairman, Hon. Paul Ekpo and all the chapter chairmen were present to receive the former SSG. In his speech, Mr Umana recalled that he joined the party in 2003, and has since then been contributing diligently to growth the party. He also indicated that he had been living in the state since 1989, and ‘so I know Akwa Ibom and the people, and they too know me’. To buttress his deep affinity and knowledge of the party, the former SSG mentioned all the names of the party EXCO members and their respective LGAs to the admiration and applause of the audience. In terms of his plans as the next governor, Mr Umana said he will launched an aggressive war against poverty and unemployment by working with the federal government to establish the Ibaka Deep Sea Port. In addition he will industrialise the state, support agriculture, improve on infrastructure and provide scholarships to the best and brightest of our students. For him, resources and amenities would be equitably and evenly spread across the state.
