Umana Umana Bows to Pressure. Accepts NDDC Job Information reaching us has it that the Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State Government, Mr. Umana Okon Umana has finally bowed to pressure to take up the post of MD, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). With this development, Mr. Umana will resign his position as SSG in the State. It will be recalled that early this week, we reported that Mr. Umana was facing intense pressure to take up the NDDC job as a soft landing not to contest the 2015 guber elections in the state which according to the PDP zoning/rotation principles will favour Eket Senatorial District. However, Mr. Umana while speaking with a select team of journalists in Uyo on Monday July 22, 2013, assured his supporters that he was still in the race to contest the 2015 election. But in a separate move, the Executive Governor of the State, Chief Godswill Akpabio, CON, has made it known that he has not anointed anyone as his successor ahead of the 2015 elections. In a meeting with stakeholders from the 8 oil producing areas of the state in Eket, Akpabio said he has no intention of going against the wishes of the people on the 2015 elections, hence it is false that he has a successor in mind.
