Umma University wishes to recruit qualified academic and administrative staff. Requirements are as follows: 1. DVC (Administration, Finance and Planning) Should have earned a PhD degree or its equivalent. Must have a Master’s degree in relevant field or equivalent professional qualification with six (6) years experience.Must have four (4) years teaching and research experience being appointed associate professor/associate research professor. Must have accumulated ten (10) equivalent publication points. Supervise at least five postgraduate students and attracted research funds. Must have a track record of successful change management. Be registered with, and be an active member of professional association in his/her field of profession. Demonstrate knowledge of strategic planning in academic development of the University. Be of highest ethical standard, integrity and professionalism. 2. OR Must have served for three (3) years as Deputy Registrar or equivalent position. Must be computer literate. ● In addition, the candidate should be conversant with modern Strategic Management Techniques. 4. Registrar (administration and planning and development) Should have earned a PhD, degree or its equivalent in either Public Administration, or Human Resource. Management or its equivalent, CPS (K) or relevant professional qualification of five (5) years. Must have served at the level of Senior Lecturer or above if from an academic background. Must have a Master’s degree in relevant field or equivalent professional qualification with fifteen (15) years administrative experience. Must have served for three (3) years as Deputy Registrar or equivalent position. 3 Must be computer literate. In addition, the candidate should be conversant with modern Strategic Management Techniques. Member of a recognized professional administration or management body. 5. Legal Officer Holder of LLB degree from a recognized university or equivalent institution. Registered with the Kenya School of Law (KSL). Must be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid practicing license. Must have three years post­admission working experience in a busy legal office or as a Senior Legal Assistant in a university set up. Must be computer literate. 6. Quality Assurance Officer Must possess Master’s degree in Business Administration, Communication, ICT, Social Sciences, or other related fields Must have at least five (4) years relevant work experience Project management experience is an added advantage. 7. Internal Auditor Must possess a Bachelor of Commerce degree (Accounting Option) or its equivalent and an MBA (Accounting/Finance) or its equivalent from a recognized university. Be registered member of good standing with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) or its equivalent. Must have three (3) years work experience at the level of Assistant Internal Auditor I at Grade 11 or a comparable position in an institution of higher learning or a public/private organization of a comparable nature. Must have knowledge in modern financial management techniques including working with ERPs. Must have experience in all operational and financial matters with regard to implementation of the audit strategy, coordination of auditing services and systems. Must be of high integrity with ability to work with multidisciplinary team of professionals. Must be computer literate in relevant accounting packages. Possession of computerized Information Systems Audit (CISA) certification will be an added advantage. 8. Chief Security Officer Must have Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science, or relevant degree related to security training with eight (8) years relevant experience. Security training from a recognized institution and have served in the disciplined forces or held supervisory role from a recognized security firm. A diploma computer studies. Knowledge of using CCTV cameras. 9. Professor Minimum Qualifications;A PhD or equivalent degree qualification (or a Master’s degree qualification in special cases) in the relevant area from recognized/accredited university, At least four (4) years teaching and research experience being appointed Associate Professor/Associate Research Professor, Accumulated at least ten (10) equivalent publication points, Supervised at least five (5) postgraduate students and attracted research funds. 10. Associate Professor Minimum Qualifications; PhD or equivalent degree qualification (or a Master’s degree qualification in special cases) in the relevant area from recognized/accredited university, At least three (3) years teaching/research experience at university level as a senior Lecture, Accumulated at least eight (8) equivalent publication points as a Senior Lecturer, Supervised at least five (5) postgraduate students and attracted research funds as a senior lecturer. 11. Dean of Students Masters degree in Business Administration/Counseling/ Psychology/Communications or equivalent. Minimum 5 years experience in administration position in an Institution of Higher Learning/ Corporate World. Excellent communication and demonstrated decision making skills. Must be computer literate and proficient in standard office software applications Must demonstrate proven work ethics that meet deadlines, leadership skills, good interpersonal skills and a team player. 12. Senior Lecturer An earned PhD or its equivalent from a recognized university in the relevant field. Minimum of five (5) years full teaching experience at University level three (3) of which as a full time lecturer. Evidence of supervision of at least three (3) masters’ students since last promotion required. Minimum of three (3) publications in peer­refereed journals OR two (2) publications and two (2) chapters in scholarly books since being appointed or promoted to lecturer. Evidence of continued research, dissemination and ability to attract external funds. Evidence of leadership experience in a University, active participation in departmental activities and good quality teaching. Evidence of attendance and contribution at learned conferences, seminars and workshops. Those from research institutes or equivalent organizations (outside university system) with an earned PhD, six (6) years research experience and at least five (6) publications in peer­refereed journals will also be considered. 13. Lecturer An earned PhD or its equivalent from a recognized University in the relevant field OR in some discipline. Masters degree holders with minimum three (3) years teaching experience at University level with a minimum of two (2) publications in refereed journals or two (2) chapters in scholarly books.Since the last promotion and evidence of positive progress towards award of a PhD, degree. Those from research institutes or equivalent organizations (outside University system) with three (3) years research experience, three (3) publications and evidence of advanced progress in acquiring a PhD, degree will also be considered Evidence of continuing research activity. 14. Tutorial Fellow Masters degree in a discipline related or closely related to the undergraduate degree. Evidence for registration for PhD, and advancement towards acquiring it is required. Those with teaching/research experience at University/research institute and have completed PhD, research work or are writing PhD, thesis will have an added advantage. School of Business and Technology areas of specialization includes: Business management: Finance, Marketing, Accounting, Strategic Management of related specializations in Business Administration. b) Computer sciences: Computer science, Information technology, related fields in IT. Mathematics or Physics, Electronics. Education areas of specialization­ (Curriculum and Instruction, Ed. Foundation, Ed. Psychology and Ed. Administration and Planning) 2. School of Sharia and Islamic Studies: Sharia and Law: Sharia and Law, Law, Usool fiqh, Fiqh. Islamic studies: Akeedah, Hadith, Tafsir. Arabic language for non­Arabic speakers. 15. Admission Officer Must have Bachelor’s degree. A Master’s degree is an added advantage. Must have worked in a busy admission environment preferably a university. Three (3) years relevant working experience. Proficiency in 2010 Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. QuickBooks experience preferred, but not required. 16. Administrative Assistant Must have; A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree. Three (3) years of administrative experience. Experience with drafting/writing communications to various stakeholders. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills and able to work under minimum supervision. Proficiency in 2010 Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. QuickBooks experience preferred, but not required. Testing of skill level may be required as part of the interview process. Requires typing skills.
