‘Uncle, Uncle!’ I heard some brats calling out from behind . I had just returned from the Giant Supermarket nearby the place where Im staying now and was about to use the lift to get back to my room . There were these tiny pests , scampering in the lift calling ‘Uncle, Uncle . It seemed like they wanted that uncle to help them to press the button of the lift as they all are too short and couldnt reach it . I was curious for a glimpse of this cold-hearted uncle who could ignore these pesky children . I turned around to see him . To my shock, I realized that the kids were all staring at me, expecting me to press the button for them . Uncle ? I was thinking to myself, ‘did they just call me uncle ? I did find myself calling all elders uncle but I thought they were all really elders. I mean they were old. Im just 19 , why were they calling me uncle ? I tried my best to ignore them . I was sure that they were mistaken. A tall and hefty guy from a distance might probably give an aura of ‘Uncleness’ . One of the kids then spoke to me , uncle , could you please help me to press the button ? 14th floors please ? I froze. They were indeed addressing me. How would you feel if somebody suddenly calls you uncle or auntie but youre still too young for them to call you like that ? Whys the lift taking so long to reach 17th floors ? Oh no , I forgot to press the button . Coming back to my frozen state of mind, the kids were pleadingly looking way up to me , remember the difference in our height . ‘I will help you all , but then I am not uncle. Do I look like an Uncle?’ I told them and a small girl replied me , Yes , you do ! I almost cried listening to that . Ding-dong ! The lift reached 14th floors and the kids went out happily . Before they left , they told me Thank you very much , Uncle ! I froze . I didnt expect somebody would call me uncle , do I really look so old ? Their words teared my fragile heart into pieces . Uncle , uncle , their voices keep echoing in my brain .......... What a bad day ! Huh ?
