Uncle came to see us for other issues. But when we saw his hand, - TopicsExpress

Uncle came to see us for other issues. But when we saw his hand, it was clearly not right. Smart phones these days enable us to have quick consults with doctor friends. We decided this cannot wait. Our activists Tyler & Ching Hong brought him to the local clinic and was adviced to go to A&E for deeper tissue cleaning. At the hospital, the infected wound was cleaned up, prescribed Augmentin and an anti-tetanus jab. They brought him home not too long ago and will help follow up with uncles visit to the polyclinic for future cleaning. Thanks to you and the other activists, grassroots and volunteers who go that extra mile each week! Sometimes old folks (and others) like to self-medicate, or brush these off as minor wounds. Do help look out for them amongst your neighbours. And do note unusual conditions. I have seen a number of cases where I wished someone could have picked up the anomalies so that medical attention could take place earlier. It was... too late in a few instances. Another uncle came with his nephew. 4 kids but none are helping him and his wife. I asked if we should help mediate or take legal steps...he was most reluctant. The nephew shared that his cousins did not bother much at all. Sad but it happens. So wed see what we can do to assist. Divorce cases appear every week. It is the start of many a unravelling not just of relationships, but of a range of issues that can immobilise families. In some previous posts, some of you feel indignant about those facing difficulties. I can understand that but one cannot prevent breakdowns of relationships. What we can do is to be there to help individuals and the families to pick up the pieces as best as they can. But it is always the children that I worry about most. Not sure what else we can do to prevent divorces beyond more counselling and support. As always, thank you to all who came and help out and who will be following up in the coming days!
