Uncle – Beta, what “naukri” do you do? Me – I run an IT company Uncle – Oh! So you do “naukri” in an IT company? There is a lot of “scope” there Me – No uncle, I am entrepreneur Uncle – Oh, why don’t you do a job, you can do better, my brother’s son works with an IT company, posted in “Dainmaark” and recently bought a flat in Delhi. Life is very easy going. Me – That’s good to know uncle, I am sure he loves to do that. I love my work. Uncle – Well beta, government job is best, there no better job than that, everything “araam se” Me – Araam se? What do you mean araam se? Uncle – You know you don’t have any work pressure, salary comes to you regularly, job security, go office at 9, come back at 5, relax and have tea in evening. Me – But what do you mean by “araam se”? Uncle – I mean it is a comfortable job, no worries. Me – But I do not think there is any easy job, someone has to “do the work” to earn money Uncle – that’s what, no load in government job, government pays the salary it is their headache. You can get fired in private job anytime, then there is recession and all that nonsense Me – Uncle, government pays because millions of people like your nephew and me work our lives out to pay taxes. We pay over 30% of what we pay for food just to pay taxes. That is what pays salary to a government employee. How can you say it is “araam ki naukri”? I think it is “haraamkhori” Uncle – after a minute of silence, “aur shaadi waadi ka kya vichar hai”? (what are your plans for marriage?) Me – chai piyenge kya? (would you like to have some tea?)
