Under 14’s Albury Hotspurs 4 def Myrtleford 2 Under 16’s The under 16’s have made it through to the cup final for the second year running easily accounting for Albury Hotspurs at Jelbart Park. 2 goals in the first four minutes to Kheda Stevenson and Fletcher Caponecchia got to the team off to a flying start and if Alex McIntosh had converted a penalty shortly after the match would have been outsight for Hotspurs within the first 15 minutes. However the penalty miss did not prove to be costly and Kheda Stevenson scored twice more for a first half hat trick and when Conner Caponecchia found the back of the net the team went to the break 5:1 up and the match was effectively over as a contest. With one eye to next week the team was able to again rotate the squad in the second half to ensure everyone got some game time. Hotspurs converted a penalty in the 57 minute but that proved to be the only goal scored in the second half as the sting went out of the game. So the under 16’s come up against arch rivals Wangaratta in a replay of last years final and will be desperate to turn the tables on a team that has beaten them in the both home and away fixtures this year as well as in the 2013 Cup Final. Although starting as underdogs in the Cup Final the side have really hit their straps in the last two weeks and Wangaratta will have to be at their very best to win back to back titles Snr Women Fighting for a spot in the grand final, the Savoy women had nothing to lose today. Myrtleford 2 lost to Boomers 3 After a goal from Boomers, they fought back and found the back of the net, which was unfortunately called offside. A free kick from Christina put Myrtleford on the score board. Boomers managed to score twice more before another Myrtleford goal brought them back within range. The final whistle blew before the Savoy women were able to equalise, ending their season. A competitive year from the team, who continued to improve and surprise the opposition. Bring on the 2015 season.
