Under 18 Previews SAAFL © After a bright start to the season, Fitzroy was brought back down to earth with a heavy defeat to Sacred Heart before the Easter break. The Lions face Henley who has had an in different start to the season. The Sharks suffered a convincing loss to Flinders Park in round 1, however, bounced back to beat Unley/Mitcham. Fitzroy will have to have to pay close attention to Jack Hambly, Matthew Hawkins, Lachlan Hoise and Tom Pillion along with others to have a chance in this match. The Lions have fire power of their own including Daniel and Anthony Pigliacelli, Samuel Bugeja and Caleb Chipman, however, Henley may be just too strong. Two of the undefeated sides clash in a mouth watering contest. Flinders Park has started the season well with wins over Henley and Plympton, likewise Port District who have also defeated Plympton and Woodville South in the opening two rounds. Spencer Johnson up forward for the Reds has started the season well and close attention will need to be paid to him if the Magpies are to win this game. The Magpies also have a potent forward line and are capable of kicking big totals if defenders are not on their game. Flinders Park could prove too strong in this encounter. Goodwood Saints and Sacred Heart clash in the ‘Match of the Round’. Goodwood has demonstrated they will be a premiership contender again with two large wins and has sent an ominous warning to the rest of the competition. Dylan Harby was potent up forward against Portland, booting 10 in the 215 point massacre, he had support from Carter Grieve, Clinton Donald and many other Saints Players. Sacred Heart is also undefeated and has recorded convincing wins to start their campaign. Before the break the Hearts crushed Fitzroy by 122 points with Luke Paparella, Ed Doak and Chris Barns kicking 4 goals each. Goodwood needs to control these players otherwise the Hearts could amass a large total. On Paper Goodwood looks too strong, however, this match will be a nail bitter. Plympton travels to Mitcham to face Unley/ Mitcham with both sides desperate for a win. The Bulldogs have been around the mark this season, however, have not recorded a victory. Unley Mitcham, after struggling last season, has been competitive in their defeats so far. Both sides need a win and should be entertaining football, however, Unley Mitcham will record their first win for 2014. The final game of round 3 see’s struggling Portland tackle Woodville South. Both sides have suffered heavy defeats this season and win is what both sides desperately need. Woodville South stuck with Port Districts in the first half of their match a fortnight ago, however, fell away after half time. Portland, however, never were in the match against reigning premier Goodwood Saints, going down by over 200 points. Although both sides have struggled this year, Woodville South should record their first win of the season comfortably.
