Under-steer fear for Cal “Unfortunately because of the layout and the corners I think we will have a few problems with under-steer on the German GP track” Cal Crutchlow enjoyed his most competitive MotoGP race at the Sachsenring last season, finishing second to eventual champion Marc Marquez by just 1.559s. But that was on a Tech 3 Yamaha. Crutchlows best result so far this season at Ducati is a sixth in round one at Qatar - the first of only three races he has finished this year - while the closest he has been to victory is 25.780s at Le Mans. “Ive never ridden at the Sachsenring on the Ducati, but I like the track and went really well there last year, when I was second in qualifying and finished second in the race, which is one of my best results ever in MotoGP,” said Crutchlow. “Unfortunately because of the layout and the corners I think we will have a few problems with understeer on this track, but we will see and as always Ill try my best to be competitive.” The Englishman must soon decide whether he wants to take up an option to remain at Ducati in 2015, with a rumoured deadline for his decision being the end of this month. During the recent Assen round, Dovizioso - also a team-mate to Crutchlow at Tech 3 Yamaha - spoke to the media about the Englishmans tough season: “I knew Cal couldnt be as fast with this bike, just because of the limit of the [Ducati]. I expected a little bit better, but also he doesnt have any different experience apart from the Yamaha. When the bike has a big limit it is more difficult. For sure Cal is a fast rider and we know the potential of Cal.” Dovizioso finished seventh and 30-seconds from victory for Ducati at the Sachsenring last season.
