Under the Same Sun will be screened at Moondance on September 26th at 10:25pm. This feature-length, dramatic film has both world-wide and local roots. It is directed by Sameh Zoabi, a Palestinian who directed the acclaimed Man without a Cell Phone. Producers are Amir Harel, an Israeli nominated for an Academy Award for Paradise and Boulder-based conflict resolution expert, Mark Gerzon. The film is set in the near future. It tells the highly dramatic story of two Israeli and Palestinian businessmen who set out to make money and wind up making peace. Their intense relationship leads them to personal transformation – and, ultimately, plays a key part in societal change across the Middle East. The film looks at the complexities of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. In very personal terms, it examines the underlying motivations that prevent a fair solution. The film demonstrates that peace is actually possible. Mark Gerzon is an experienced facilitator specializing in cross-party leadership development. Best known in the USA for designing and facilitating the Bipartisan Congressional Retreats, he has convened and facilitated numerous dialogues between Democrats and Republicans and for multinational corporations. As a result of a decade of such work, the UNDP’s Bureau of Crisis Prevention and Recovery invited him to do similar work in emerging democracies around the world, most recently in Kenya and Nepal. He has also trained UN Resident Coordinators in Latin America and Caribbean countries.
