Understanding the Holy Spirit and His works” #73 Who is God? Can God be known? Dear Friends. We have started this topic on the doctrine of “Trinity” by asking, Who is God, and can God be known. And our main reason to follow this course was that most Christians in their thinking cannot distinguish the God they had believed from the gods of other religions. And by answering the questions we said “YES.” And we began to describe Him as the Alpha and the Omega. God as the Spirit Being has no Beginning and no End who also has created every visible and invisible thing. Other attributes to His Majesty were: The Omniscience -The-All Knowing God, The Omnipresence -God`s presence fills everywhere, and the Omnipotent -The All-Powerful God. 6 Thou, even thou, art LORD alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth thee.7 Thou art the LORD the God, who didst choose Abram, and broughtest him forth out of Ur of the Chaldees, and gavest him the name of Abraham (Nehemiah 9:6-7). And in support of every of these knowledge about Him the Bible also made it clear that the heavens have declared the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handy work (Psalm 19:1). And no sensible being that can down play the existing “Atmospheric Covenants” that God has established by the power of His mouth during the creation which forever were at work. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light (Genesis 1:3). Thus saith the LORD; If my covenant be not with day and night, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth (Jeremiah 33:25). Now on whether God can be known? We have equally begun to comment on this by saying that one does not need to become first a "Fruit-bearing Christian" before he or she could begin to experience any of these attributes of God in his or her personal life. Fruit-bearing Christian is the stage in someone`s life when the Characteristic of God begins to reflect on the person`s life just as the fact was established in the Scripture. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance (Galatians 5:22-23). And no matter how logical or illogical the mind of someone could function, it cannot disprove that the cause of this reflection is not in harmony with God creating us in the likeness of His own Image (Genesis 1:26). Other factors we can use to establish the facts that God can be known have been shown from one of the texts in this message. Here from the book of (Nehemiah 9:7), we were told that God did chose Abram and brought him forth from his place of birth, and gave him the name Abraham which means the father of many nations. 1 And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. 2 And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly. 3 And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying, 4 As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. 5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. 6 And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee. 7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee. 8 And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God. 9 And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations. 10 This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised (Genesis 17:1-10). What other evidence should we be searching for when this conversation between God and Abraham had been fulfilled in your life? It is either that someone reading this text is fulfilling this covenant as someone practicing Judaism through the Old Covenant handed down to man through the Prophet Moses (Exodus 3:13-15), or through the New Covenant that was made possible through the Law of Grace which testifies about the Death and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus (Mathew 26:26-29). Or in even someone who is a Muslim that is reading this message who can claim to be a heir to the Abraham`s covenant through the prophet Mohammed who came through the descendant of Ishmael who is the son of Abraham through his housemaid Hagar (Genesis 16:15-16). We have provided this mountain of evidence to prove that if one shall seek God with all the heart the person will find Him (Deuteronomy 4:29)(Jeremiah 29:13).
