Unfortunately once again @NYTimeskrugman is using Greeces situation to reinforce his political and economic doctrine. Actually greece is a perfect example why bloated public spending and crony socialism dont work. Greeces electorate had to decide on which of the greater lies they should vote for and the chose the one that had the word HOPE ( Syrizas campaign slogan ) attached. This article is misleading and NOT nearly the complete story. Yes,the Troika austerity was extreme and not pro growth but there are massive institutional issues in greece that need to be address that Greeks on there own would or could never tackle. Try living or doing business in greece and you will understand. Should Tsipras have a chance? absolutely! The people have spoken, but when you peel back the rhetoric of the campaign you wouldnt find a heretic but a man and a party that has been financially supported by the same oligarch families of greece and is beholden to the same unions and public sector that brought greece to this point. Lets HOPE he isnt the same old story wrapped in a reformers package.
