Union Budget allocates Rs 170 crore for UPSC: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has allotted Rs 170 crore for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The funds will be utilised for expenditure on salaries and allowances of the chairman, members and establishment of the UPSC. Besides, the administrative expenses and the expenditure related to conduct of the examinations by the Commission will also be covered. Last years Union budget had earmarked Rs 166.64 crore for the same.The UPSC conducts the following examinations: Civil Services Examination, Engineering Services Examination, Combined Defence Services Examination, National Defence Academy Examination, Naval Academy Examination, Combined Medical Services Examination, Special Class Railway Apprentice, Indian Economic Service/Indian Statistical Service Examination, Geologists Examination, Central Armed Police Forces (Assistant Commandant) Examination The government, in a bid to boost higher learning with a stress on world class centers of learning, has allocated Rs 27,656 crore for higher education. The new figure embarked for higher education is an increase of almost 13 per cent on the amount allocated in 2013. For the year 2014-15, the government has allocated Rs 27,656 crore to the department of higher education under the Human Resource Development (HRD) ministry compared to Rs 24,485 crore in 2013-14, registering an increase of 12.9 per cent.
