United Nations Universal Periodical review of Chinas human rights record. Oct. 22, 2013 (my summary) Australia calls for lifting of restriction on access in ethnic minority area & lifting restriction on freedom of expression. Canada speaks about lack of religious freedom, imprisonment of dissidents, Human rights defenders, enforced disappearances and called for right to fair trials. Czech Republic calls for protection of Tibetans, Uyghurs. France calls on China to sign treaty against enforced disappearances, allow freedom of religion and freedom to visit Tibet, Xinjiang. Germany calls for online freedom of expression, peaceful assembly, access to ethnic minority regions. India asks for more information on Chinas reeducation through labour. Poland called on China to respect religious freedom in Tibet. New Zealand called on China to resume two-way dialogue to resolve Tibet issue. Sweden calls China to release those imprisoned for their freedom of expression, abolish reeducation through labour, respect ethnic minorities. Switzerland expresses concern for Human Rights Defenders; and calls on China to allow visit by UN Human Rights Commissioner to Tibetan and Uyghur areas US calls for an end to enforced disappearance, protect rights of ethnic groups including Tibetans & Uyghurs, reform its administrative justice system by abolishing reeducation through labour. US noted Chinas suppression of its peoples freedom of assembly. UK concerned about human rights situation in Tibet especially in regards to cultural & religious rights in their recommendations. Not surprising that Sri Lanka, South Africa, Pakistan supported Chinas human rights record. Thanks to all countries who stood for Tibet.
