United We Stand My name is Meredith. I am a mother, a wife, a sister, a daughter, a granddaughter, a cousin and a friend. My whole life I have been surrounded by people that I love and by people that love me. People who don’t look down on me or judge me for who I am. If there was ever a black sheep in this family it would probably have been me. I have never quite fit the mold, but I am pretty sure that everyone looked past that. Especially my grandmother. On my mother’s side of the family, we have the matriarch of us all, my wonderful grandmother. She has to be my biggest inspiration in life. If there was ever someone I would want to be like, it would definitely be her. Her strength and compassion for others knows no bounds. I have a fabulous husband that makes all my dreams come true, 3 beautiful children, who at one point or another make me laugh every single day, a son-in-law I adore, a boyfriend who is nuts about my daughter, my mom and Ben who made so many things possible, I also have one sister, who I learned many things from even if she didn’t know I was paying attention, one brother-in-law, nine aunts and uncles, fifteen cousins, eight second cousins and two nieces I am crazy about. I believe that makes forty-three of us. This is a lot of people, right? I hear my friends talking about the drama in their families and from families that aren’t even as big as ours. I was just commenting the other day about how my family really has no drama. Not that we are at all perfect, but for the most part we are always happy to see one another. We are not just a family, but we are friends as well. Which I really think this is an amazing thing to have, something that many people will never experience. I know that at any given time there are forty-one other people who will have my back when I need it, forty-two people who will hold my hand when I need their strength. Forty-one people that I can turn to day or night to be there for me just a chat or for some real advice about decisions to be made. Some may have heard that my step-dad Ben is sick. He has been a part of my family since I was five years old. There really is not a time I can remember him not being there. I want him and my mom to know that there are forty-one people holding your hands, forty-one people who have your back. Forty-one people that are rallying on your behalf. Forty people who are praying and asking their friends and other family to do the same. If there is one thing this family is not, is a family divided. We are a family united. United by a common love that we share for one another. My mother is so strong and I always pull on her strength and advice to get me through, but this time I need to be the strong one and boy am I trying to send my strength and love to both of you. They say it takes a village, well I think that you have way more than a village. There are so many people that the both of you have touched their lives in ways that they are praying and rallying for you as well. You are never alone in this detour that your life has taken. So many of us are here for you. If you are ever unsure, go outside when it is quiet and sit and listen, you will feel the love in the air moving around you, caressing you like hug. This is us, your people, your family, loving you. I love you both so much, Meredith PS. As many of you know that I am deeply driven by my emotions. The last few days I have been on an emotional overload, so I thought that I might write some of my feelings down so I can release them. Try to level myself out. Writing has really helped to ease some of my anxieties.
