United given green light to sign Bale Manchester United could reportedly be set to break their club transfer record for the third time in 12 months after reports emerged overnight of a move for Real Madrid star Gareth Bale. Bale has been a hit since moving to Madrid, scoring big goals in finals this year such as the Copa Del Rey, Champions League and most recently the Club World Cup final. The Welshman moved to Real Madrid in 2013 for a world record fee but it appears United wouldnt have to beat that to bring him back from Spain. Rumours emerged this week after several national newspapers suggested Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus will move to the Bernabeu next summer to replace Bale. As bizarre as the stories sound, United are willing to spend big money again this year and would make a huge statement if they eclipsed the £60m they paid for Angel Di Maria in August. Added to the fact the club were extensively linked with a move for Bale back in 2013 before he left for Madrid, with David Moyes determined to make him one of the first signings of his time in charge. These stories appear just months after the move that the club had outbid Real Madrid for the player but Bale preferred to move to La Liga.
