United’s failure to capture Coentrao angers Buttner’s - TopicsExpress

United’s failure to capture Coentrao angers Buttner’s agent. David Moyes’ summer transfer dealings came in for a different type of criticism when the agent of Dutch left back Alexander Buttner slammed the manager for failing to sign Real Madrid full back Coentrao, and imperiled his player’s proposed loan move to Besiktas, according to the The Mirror online. Alexander Bursac is quoted as saying “It’s unbelievable that Coentrao was not signed on time. Whether that’s an error on the part of Real or United doesn’t matter.” He added that “We received assurances of a loan. Alex is not necessarily looking for a guarantee of playing time, but he does not want to spend the entire season on the bench.” Perhaps most damning of all for Moyes was when Bursac said “Under Sir Alex Ferguson, Buttner was the up-and-coming man. He started playing in more games and was trusted in training. That sense of trust is not there now.” It’s not uncommon for players, and their agents to be angered when a new recruit is brought in ahead of their player, but this is a slightly different slant on that, althouhh the Turkish transfer window is yet to close, it now appears that United will require Buttner to stay at Old Trafford as cover for French full back Patrice Evra. One is left to wonder what the agent’s attitude would have been if all of Moyes’ plans had come to fruition and Leighton Baines had also been signed. It may be that from there, Buttner’s only move out could have been of a more permanent nature.
