University Research Coordination Office ( (632) 524-4611 Ext. 257 * [email protected] The University Research Coordination Office cordially invites everyone to participate in the Workshop on Proposal Writing “Crafting A Clear, Convincing Story To Get Your Project Funded” June 27, 2014, Friday, 8:00 am- 12:00 nn Y507 Seminar Room facilitated by Genevieve L. Asenjo, PhD Abstract: How to transform what we imagine and desire into feasible and viable projects? What new approaches could we learn from related domains to complement our expertise in textual analysis and cultural criticism, close reading and distant reading? This presentation uses case stories, as success stories, to illustrate best practices gathered from humanities, social sciences, and fields of innovation. It advances the enduring power of storytelling (i.e. oral, print, visual) as a method, process, and design in knowledge production and formulation of creative solutions. Workshop Topics: Best Practices/Case Stories The Hear Theory The Create Framework The Deliver Stage Exercise 1: Journey of An Offering Exercise 2: Aspirations Exercise Tips On Writing and Documentation About the Speaker: Genevieve L. Asenjo is Associate Professor at the Dept. of Literature, De La Salle University. She is a published and multi-awarded author of five books and an Honorary Writing Fellow at the International Writing Program of the University of Iowa in 2012. Her first novel, Lumbay ng Dila (C&E/DLSU, 2010) won the Juan C. Laya Prize for Fiction in the National Book Award. Her second novel under URCO evaluation - Kamatayun sa Isla Boracay - is a historiographic metafiction on anthropological works on the Aetas of Panay Island. Her current URCO project is an article review on contemporary Kinaray-a literature online. She judges national literary contests, sits as panelist in writing workshops, and evaluates projects for National Commission for Culture and the Arts and other related agencies.
