University chancellor boosts hopes for Rio Olympics blogs.sunderland.ac.uk/aboutus/2014/04/17/crio/ The University’s Chancellor Steve Cram has today announced that he has joined the British Athletics Endurance Programme and become an adviser and mentor to the nation’s athletes and coaches. The former 1500m world champion and BBC commentator will become a key advisor for guiding and mentoring athletes and coaches. He already coaches the Olympic 1500m finalist Laura Weightman but will now work across the entire programme under Barry Fudge who is the head of endurance. The Endurance Programme aims to result in podium success at Olympic and world level events and to enable British coaches to improve and develop alongside some of the world’s best coaching set ups.
