University is supposed to prepare you for the real world. The most successful students are the ones who are not naive to this falsehood. Once a year I go back to my old college (Kingston... *brap brap*) and run sessions on Life after college, and when the students ask me about University, I tell the students about this reality: university really is not for everyone. Some accept it, and some dismiss. My experience has been good in many ways (Alhamdulillah), but many students struggle, and for various reasons, which also leads to many dropping out in the first year (I almost did). There are so many opportunities in the world now days, University doesnt have to be one of them anymore (unless you have a very specific career path you wanna follow). When youngsters ask us about University, lets be more honest with them. ✌
