University of Canterbury Sustainability Office: annual Eco Week. One event: 19th Sept, 6.30pm -Christchurch premier of movie Bidder 70. About the extraordinary, effective activism by University of Utah economics student Tim DeChristopher, who demanded government and industry accountability on the mining of fossil fuels and climate justice. Tim saved 22,000 acres of pristine wilderness in Utah and has built a grass-roots group dedicated to defending a livable future through non-violent action. Outside of the movie screening there is going to be a bunch of stall holders such as CANA, 350.org, Generation Zero and a number of University Clubs. We are hoping to show connections between environmental groups and show that people are not alone in the fight towards a sustainable Aotearoa.
