University of the West of England Summer Mobilities Workshop: The Emotional and Spiritual Dimensions of Mobility 11th July 2013, 10am – 5pm. Department of Geography and Environmental Management, University of the West of England, Frenchay Campus, Coldharbour Lane, Bristol, BS16 1QY, UK Speakers include: Dr. Tim Edensor (Manchester Metropolitan University) – ‘Moving through Light and Dark’ Dr. Juliet Jain (UWE) and Dr. William Clayton (UWE) – ‘Missing out? Mobile workers and the role of technology in engaging in family life at-a-distance’ Dr. Jennifer Lea (University of Exeter) Dr. Avril Maddrell (UWE) Dr. Peter Merriman (Aberystwyth University) – ‘Rethinking Mobile Methods’ A one-day workshop bringing together research addressing issues of social and cultural ritual, human emotional and spiritual experiences, and geographies of affect that can reside within the time-space of everyday and extraordinary mobilities. Free attendance. Four bursaries (of up to £50) available for postgraduate advance standard travel expenses.
