Unleash Clark and Daly on the Fifers Derek Johnstone Football columnist Friday 25/10/2013 I WOULD like to see Nicky Clark given an extended run in the Rangers first team. His second-half showing against Brechin City last weekend was superb. He made a real difference after coming on at half-time and scored the winning goal in a thrilling 4-3 victory. I like seeing a big striker playing in tandem with a wee front man. That partnership always works well when the wee striker has pace. Well, that is the case with Nicky so why not give him a chance to strike up a partnership with Jon Daly? I think Nicky has probably taken time to get to grips with what is involved in being a player at a club the size of Rangers this season. But he came on at Glebe Park last Saturday and really put himself about. His movement was good, he held the ball up well, he set up chances and created a few openings himself. He took his late goal superbly well to keep his sides winning record alive and I hope he gets the nod to start against East Fife in Methil tomorrow. Ally deserves a lot of credit for his substitutions against Brechin. He brought on Nicky and David Templeton in Angus. Templeton sent in the cross for Clark to score. So credit where it is due to the manager for his tactical decisions. His replacements won the game for him. /robert
