Unless we study the Bible in the original languages used, we are all just whistling in the dark by guessing about what the author might have said. The aim of modern biblical study is to try and establish, as far as possible, the original reading of the Scriptures, using all the means in our possession. This includes the Standard Hebrew text with the most important one being the Greek version. The history of this translation goes back to the 3rd century before Christ.
