Unpacked, ponies back in their paddocks, diary is out and ready to be filled! Anyone who wants to start booking back in for regular weekly or fortnightly lessons, please PM me! There is currently a spot here for horse education and Ill be booking up to the end of the year, so again please PM if interested. We have a Sonja Johnson clinic coming up late October, and Ill be running several xc clinics myself over the summer months to help get those green horses ready for 2015, so if you want to be on the email list for those, PM! And for now, heres a little something I learnt about each of the places I visited in Europe this trip: (tongue in cheek of course) FRANCE: The French style of helping give directions can vary from Yes the competition is there. No it is not possible to get there to You should learn French! Then you could read the signs yourself! ENGLAND: 160,000 spectators go to Burghley each year. 159,500 of those will be found in the maze of shopping corridors. ITALY / LAKE COMO: Hollywood does not lie. The Italians are even more loud and more exuberant with the body language than even the movies portray! AUSTRIA: The Austrians are good at marketing. You know this when you see a full bus going on a tour to Mozarts Mothers birth place. SWITZERLAND: The sun shines in St Moritz 320 days a year. None of those days will occur when you visit. GERMANY: Oktoberfest is Europes largest party, 2 million drunken people play dodge trying to walk down the streets. The epicentre of Oktoberfest is actually in late September. In central Munich. Yep, right opposite our hotel. No wonder it was tricky booking that extra night... PRAGUE: The astronomical clock draws crowds from around the world. On the hour, people pack in to the square, and when the chimes start to ring..... nothing much really happens. :p NORWAY: The trains in Norway are some of the most scenic in the world, yet no prior reservations are required as they are not too busy. Unless it is the first day of school holidays, and the track has been closed for repairs, and EVERYONE wants to go across the country. Then the scenic day trains will be booked out. Youll need to take the midnight train. Youll be travelling through that glorious landscape - in the dark. SWEDEN: I now know why the Swedish people are slim and make super models. You cannot afford to eat in Sweden! Other things to note about Europe - the cows are happy there. I did not realise Australian cows are not happy until I saw the European cows! All things grow fast, the grass, flowers, cities, even my stomach grew fast there?! And on that note, time to squeeeeze into the jods and get back to work and riding!!
